Western Sydney drill icons ONEFOUR will unite with a 25-piece orchestra in a bold new celebration of the region’s cultural force in Penrith next year.

Hailing from Mount Druitt, ONEFOUR have put western Sydney drill on the global map.

With more than 400 million streams, 1.6 million monthly Spotify listeners, a debut album (‘Look At Me Now’) that reached No. 2 on the ARIA charts, a Netflix documentary (‘Against All Odds’) and numerous international tours behind them, they’ve become one of Australia’s most influential musical exports.

Now, in a major new collaboration, Penrith Performing & Visual Arts (PP&VA) will partner with Sydney Festival to present Made Men – a world-premiere production bringing ONEFOUR together with the 25-piece Penrith Chamber Orchestra in the Concert Hall at The Joan from January 22–23.

Penrith Performing & Visual Arts Chief Executive Officer and Artistic Director, Toby Chapman said it was a huge coup.

“Penrith is fast becoming one of the most in-demand destinations for cultural events,” he said.

“Earlier this year Lewers hosted the Biennale of Sydney for the first time, and now we are proud to announce a new partnership with Sydney Festival to present a world premiere right here at The Joan.

“Bringing together ONEFOUR and our own Penrith Chamber Orchestra is a celebration of the rich and diverse musical talent of our region: from contemporary rap to classical strings. This is a western Sydney story, told in western Sydney, for the people who live here.”

More than a meeting of genres, ‘Made Men’ brings together two musical communities that are often underestimated and traditionally draw very different audiences.

It’s a powerful coming together of local talent, contemporary culture and orchestral ambition, creating a rare shared moment that celebrates the creativity, complexity and cultural influence of western Sydney.

Tickets are on sale from 9am on Thursday.
