Roll in for razzle dazzle at Panthers

Take a trip to the ‘50s and ‘60s with Shake Rattle ‘n’ Roll – a glittering explosion of music, dance, and retro razzle-dazzle coming to Panthers Leagues Club on July 5.

Performer Jonathan Guthrie-Jones described the rock ‘n’ roll show as a two-hour nostalgic party.

“It is a mixture of songs, dances, costumes, and audio visuals all celebrating the greatest hits from the ‘50s and the ‘60s,” he described.

“We’ve got a mixture of amazing singers, we have eight internationally acclaimed ballroom dancers, and the most incredible costumes.

“We want people to come along and have a rockin’ good time celebrating that incredible era of music.”

Despite the music coming from an era long gone, audience members range in age.

“I’m born well after that era, but I absolutely love it because there is something about the music that is so joyous, especially compared to more recent eras,” Guthrie-Jones said.

“We find that we are packing out audiences, and it’s not just with people who are of that time, but it goes all the way down to young kids who know and love every song. We say it’s the era that just won’t die.”

The show will include songs from Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, Frankie Valli, Buddy Holly, and many more – all presented as a live recreation of an old radio program by Wolfman Jack.

“The music goes from one song to the next and so on. Just like with every era, you’ve got different styles and totally different artists,” he said.

“We try to mix it up as much as we can so it’s not all the same.”

That approach keeps the audience engaged for the full two hours.

“The part of the show that I love most is the end – and I’m not saying that because I love to see the show finished – but I love getting to the end because it feels like it’s been a non-stop rollercoaster,” Guthrie-Jones explained.

“I love looking at the audience at the end and seeing that they are still with us. They haven’t dropped off and they’re not looking at their watch waiting for this to be over.

“I enjoy getting to the end and seeing how much all of this music really means to the audience.”

Guthrie-Jones last performed for a Penrith audience in 2025 and is more than ready to return.

“It’s an amazing venue, so it’s really exciting to be back at Panthers. It’s a great community out there in the western region leading into the mountains,” he said.

“I remember we had such a great time when we performed there last and I have no doubt it will be similar this time.”
