The EVAN Theatre welcomes country music legend Kasey Chambers, alongside one of Australia’s biggest contemporary country stars Casey Barnes on Saturday, September 19, for a night of energy, storytelling and of course, country music.
Coming off the back of a recent album release, and hitting number one on the ARIA charts, Barnes is no stranger to performing live.
“Look, we’re pretty high energy… my favourite part of what we do actually is performing live,” Barnes said.
Beginning his music journey in the early 2000s, Barnes has made great strides since his youth in Tasmania. Since performing on ‘Australian Idol’ in 2009, Barnes has released numerous EPs and albums, leading to both national and international success.
Now with the release of his newest album ‘Made For This’, Barnes is back touring down under and eager to hit the EVAN Theatre stage.
“We actually came out to the EVAN Theatre and shot some of the music video [for ‘Made For This’] inside the theatre… I remember talking to the guys and going ‘This is such a great venue to play at’ and what do you know, we’re actually going to come down and play at the same venue,” Barnes said.
When asked about a turning point in his career, Barnes reflected on his experience playing the one of biggest country music festivals in the world. While playing a set at Queensland’s CMC Rocks festival, an American promoter took a liking to Barnes’ sound which resulted in his performance at Stagecoach, held in California’s Coachella Valley.
“It had been on my vision board for I guess 10 years, wanting to play that festival. Finally getting to do that was huge,” he said.
Keen to share the stage with Chambers again, Barnes looks back fondly at their working relationship and namesake.
“We’ve played on many festival line-ups together. She’s salt of the earth you know, lovely person, huge respect. We always have a good laugh when we play on the same lineup together,” he said.
“Anyone that wants to grab tickets and come along to the show, they’re in for a special night…they’re going to experience all facets of country music.”
Whether you’re a lifelong country fan, or just love exhilarating performances, you won’t want to miss this unforgettable evening of country music.
